CaffreYoga Therapy exists to support healing, resilience, and self-regulation through personalized yoga therapy rooted in classical wisdom and adapted for modern life.

We meet each person where they are, physically, mentally, and emotionally, offering compassionate, evidence-informed practices that reduce suffering, restore balance, and empower individuals to move through life with greater ease, clarity, and agency.

Our Values

Individualized Care

We honor the uniqueness of every body, nervous system, and life experience. Our work is never one-size-fits-all; each session, workshop, or immersion is thoughtfully tailored to the individual or community we serve.

Compassionate Presence

Healing happens in safe, respectful relationships. We lead with empathy, deep listening, and care—creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and never rushed or judged.

Rooted in Tradition, Responsive to Modern Life

We are grounded in classical yoga philosophy while remaining responsive to the realities of contemporary living. Our practices honor tradition without rigidity and evolve with science, experience, and ongoing education.

Empowerment Through Practice

We believe yoga therapy should be practical and accessible beyond the session. Our goal is to equip clients with tools they can use in daily life—so healing becomes sustainable, not dependent.

Integrity & Ethics

We uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and scope of practice. We collaborate with healthcare providers when appropriate and prioritize safety, confidentiality, and trust.

Healing as a Process

We honor healing as non-linear. Progress is measured not by perfection, but by increased awareness, capacity, and resilience over time.

Welcome, I’m Shelby.

I’m a Certified Yoga Therapist specializing in complex trauma, mental health, and the ways emotional stress lives in the body. I work with people navigating anxiety, depression, grief, chronic stress, and physical pain, helping them reconnect with their bodies and develop practices that support steadiness, safety, and resilience. Through personalized yoga therapy practices including movement, breathwork, meditation, and self-inquiry, I help clients build sustainable tools that support their well-being in daily life.

My work is grounded in the belief that yoga therapy is not about fixing or pushing the body, but about restoring safety, agency, and resilience. I strive to create a steady, compassionate space where clients can reconnect with themselves, develop sustainable tools for everyday use, and move forward with greater ease and clarity.

I am also the Owner and Director of CaffreYoga, a Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance, where I lead transformational yoga teacher trainings rooted in integrity, depth, and leadership. To learn more about CaffreYoga’s training programs and educational offerings, visit caffreyoga.com.

In addition to my work as a yoga therapist, you can find me leading classes and workshops at 5 Boro Power Yoga in Staten Island, NYC where I have been part of an incredible community of teachers and practitioners for more than a decade.

I also bring yoga and mindfulness practices into professional and educational environments. I lead yoga and meditation at The Playground, located in Manhattan’s Seagram Building, supporting individuals working in the corporate environment. In addition, I serve as an Adjunct Professor at Nassau Community College, where I teach yoga and wellness courses.

My Approach

I believe healing happens when people feel safe enough to slow down and listen to what their bodies and nervous systems are trying to communicate. In a world that often encourages us to push through discomfort or override our needs, yoga therapy offers a different path. It is a path that honors the intelligence of the body and the natural rhythms of healing.

My role is not to “fix” you, but to walk alongside you as we explore practices that support steadiness, resilience, and self-awareness. Together, we work at a pace that respects your capacity. We draw on tools from the yoga tradition to help restore balance in body, mind, and spirit.

Over time, many clients discover that the practices we explore in sessions become tools they can carry with them throughout their life. These practices can help them navigate challenges with greater clarity, stability, and ease.
